So seeing two concerts in two days apparently took it's toll on me. Or maybe it was the bike ride home the next day in -15C. Either way, we went to see Guns n' Roses at the Air Canada Centre last Thursday! Danko Jones and Axl's butt buddy Sebastian Bach were the openers that night.
Danko Jones was an entertaining opener, talking to the crowd like a 4 year old. "That felt great. It makes us feel great when you bang your hands together and make noise." Sebastian Bach was cranky after the first song, because his mic chord snagged in his crotch, after which he wanted a replacement mic. His roadie handed him a wireless one, but he didn't want it and gave it back. He continued to sing with the other one, which seemed to be working fine, and at the end of the song he threw it down on the ground, breaking it. So now he was stuck with the cordless mic, which he didn't like. He proceeded to swear at his roadie in between song lyrics until he got a new wired mic.
Axl made us wait about 2 hours after Sebastian Bach finished, we listed to two complete albums (Pantera and AC/DC) on the PA, and tried to stay entertained by some drunk girls in the crowd flashing their bras for the video cameras.
Guns n' Roses finally hit the stage at 23:30, the crowd was in a terrible mood by then, and Axl opened with one of the new songs. It didn't go over too well, I don't really like the new album at all, seems I'm not alone. They switched it up throughout the night, basically alternating between old song, new song, solo, and so on. All in all it was a good show, pyro, fireworks, etc. But, personally, I felt the new songs lacked energy, and so did the band throughout.
